About Us
My name is Sawyer Gleason, and I’m the proud breeder and owner of PreVi Löwchen. I’ve loved dogs my whole life. As a kid, I was the neighborhood dog person- baking biscuits for everyone’s pets and walking around just to meet and say hi to them.
My first dog was a Labradoodle named Pre, who I trained myself when I was 12. He was smart, funny, and full of personality, but he also struggled with reactivity due to poor breeding. Even so, he was my best friend for nine years and will always be my first heart dog.
A few years later came Delila, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix my parents brought home after taking me to another pet store (before we knew better). She was food-driven, sweet, and had a mind of her own. She lived a long, happy life and passed away at 15.
My deeper involvement with dogs began in college. During a semester off, I started agility with Pre and waited for my first puppy, Vivian, who came home in 2017. Training her led me to obedience and rally classes, and eventually to the Coulee Kennel Club, where I met supportive people who encouraged me to explore conformation. Around that same time, I had already fallen in love with Löwchen after meeting Kat Roll online—and as fate would have it, a few club members had Löwchen too.
Not long after, a few friends offered me my first purebred dog, a Chinese Crested Powderpuff named Q. He came to me shaved down and a bit of a project, but after ten months of showing (and more baths than I can count), he finished his AKC Championship. Despite some health and temperament challenges that led me to neuter him, Q taught me more than I ever could have imagined and played a big role in shaping who I am as a breeder.
Shortly after finishing Q's championship, I got my first Löwchen, Jax. His temperament and type are everything I want in my program—outgoing, confident, great with kids and dogs, and a joy in the show ring. Since then, I’ve had the chance to handle several dogs for friends, gaining experience and confidence as a handler.
I consider myself lucky to have been involved with so many amazing dogs. Being in a rare breed comes with unique challenges, and I’ve learned so much from every dog I’ve had the privilege to know.
At the same time, it hasn’t always been easy. I lost my heart Löwchen, Bali, in a tragic accident at just 17 months old. She was everything a Löwchen should be: sassy, unapologetically friendly, and full of life. Bali is the reason I can’t give up on this breed, and my heart will never fully heal from losing her.
Because of my early experiences with dogs, I focus first on breeding temperamentally sound companions, followed closely by health and conformation. I’m still building my program, but I’m proud of the foundation I’ve started and the dogs I’ve raised. In 2025, I welcomed my first Löwchen litter, a huge milestone for me and the start of an exciting new chapter.
That first litter was extra special- it was out of the littermate to my heart dog, Bali. My breeder graciously entrusted me with Charm when I moved across the country, to live the rest of her life as my little pet. Charm always made it clear that she had chosen me; she would get upset every time I left their house. Less than six months after coming home, she gave me my first litter of three beautiful baby boys. I’ll always be grateful for the gift of such a special dog and the connection she gives me to Bali.
Looking ahead, I hope to one day add Bearded Collies, but for now, my heart and focus belong to my Löwchen.
If you ever have questions about Löwchen, Chinese Cresteds, or grooming long coats, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help—or connect you with someone who can.
